- Got recommendation for quality/reliable cleaning service?I'm looking for a reliable cleaning service that delivers quality work. Open to recommendations.
- ResponsibiltyToo answer your questions. Pressure, 6 pages of home work a night in 1st grade. And what sports, we can't do any because were to busy doing homework at night! It is my job to teach to my child responsibility 'thank you very much. At this level they should be teaching them how to read, write and add and subtract. It seems to me as though we are moving to fast for these kids and not allowing them to master the basics. As for getting along with the teacher my child does quite well and has been complimented numerous times.
I haven’t any problem introducing anatomy to a third grader. But testing them and grading them on it is ridiculous. This goes on while being tested on spelling reading and math all in the same week. This bothers me.
I also have a problem with them introducing multiplication and division and then estimating all with in a two-month span. This is too much to fast. As far as I can see I would prefer my child to master the basics at this level. I don’t mind them introducing concepts, however I don’t agree with them being graded on some subjects. It is more important that they be given a strong foundation and then builds on that. Right now they are throwing too much at them.
Do you really think that these kids are doing these projects them selves? Please! Give me a break. I would suggest you try talking with other parents. It’s laughable!
Bottom line. They are asking these kids to do things before their minds are ready. My child loves school and does fairly well, but I can see and hear that light starting to fade. But as a responsible parent I will do my best to re-ignite his passion.
- School PressureIs this primarily at the elementary level or are you seeing this in middle and high schools as well?
- Union ValleyI have children in both. And from my point of view 1k-5k is unbelievable. Seems to have alot to do with the standardized testing that is about to take place.
Thank You - Union Valley School and othersI am very concerned with the amount of pressure this school is putting on our young students. I have talked with other parents who tell me that they feel the same way.
I would like to start a forum regarding this matter. Positives are also welcome.
Thank You - MISSING - CATMy 3 year old black & white tuxedo cat went missing on 4/12/08 at night. She did have a collar on but it may have come off in her travels. Please contact me if you have seen her please contact me at my home number 435-5504 or send me any email at pzammer@hotmail.com. Thanks for any help you can offer.
- School PressureI too feel that schools are putting an extreme amount of pressure on students. However, the teachers are not putting the same pressure on themselves, but are pushing the responsibility on the parents. It is one thing to support your child, but another to be forced to play teacher.
- school pressureWhat pressure are you referring to? The pressure of kids doing their homework/class assignments or the pressure to get along with their classmates,or maybe it's the pressure of getting along with the teacher? Would you like your kids to be 'pushed' through school without teaching them responsibility, co-operation, or simple respect for others? These values start at home and are followed up upon at school in the form of homework assignments, reports, group activities, recess, etc.
